National Panorama Small and Medium Conventional Bands Preliminaries.

St. Margaret’s Superstars and Katzenjammers Steel Orchestras scored the most points in their respective categories in the blink/bmobile National Panorama Small and Medium Conventional Bands Preliminaries.

 The Junior Panorama winner 2009, St. Margaret’s Superstars, appearing at position eleven (11) played “Calling Meh” arranged by Shenelle Abraham.  For their effort, they amassed 271 points.

 In the Medium Band category, Katzenjammers of Tobago placed first with a total of 252 points. Their tune of choice was Edwin Pouchet’s arrangement of “Wake Up”.  (see attached for results).

 The qualifying round which was held over a period of four days in Tobago, North, South Central and East saw a total of 87 steel bands vying for places in the semi final round.  While the sixteen (16) Large Bands were not judged, they played their Panorama piece and were subjected to the band count.

 At the end of the Preliminaries, forty four (44) bands will proceed to the blink/bmobile National Panorama Semi Finals aka “Savannah Party” on Sunday 20th February 2011 at the Queen’s Park Savannah,, Port of Spain, from 9:00am

Tickets are priced at $300. North Stand and $260. Grand Stand. The outlets are NCC Ticket Booth, Queen’s Park Savannah, Skinner Park, San Fernando and Pan Trinbago Head Office, Park Street, Port of Spain.

National Single Pan Panorama

After an exciting preliminary round in the National Single Pan Bands Panorama, thirty two bands will meet in the semi finals on February 26 at Victoria Square, Park Street, Port of Spain.

The first round was contested in each region i.e. North, East, South/Central and Tobago. The new venue in the east, the Car Park of the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima lends itself to the competition. Of the twenty bands which competed in the east, 11 were chosen for the semis.


In the north, 29 bands faced the judges at Victoria Square and 14 were chosen for the semis. While in Tobago five bands competed and three were chosen.

The South/Central Region held its competition at the Pleasantville Community Centre Grounds and it proved to be a success. Ten bands faced the judges and four were chosen for the semis.

Panorama continues this weekend with the National Small and Medium Conventional Bands preliminary round in the four regions. Tobago-Friday 11 February, North- Saturday February 12 at Victoria Square, South/Central- Sunday February 13 Skinner Park and East- Monday February 14 Larry Gomes Stadium.

South/Central Region stages its National Preliminaries (Conventional) at Skinner Park

San City Steel Symphony will be the first band on stage when Pan Trinbago South/Central Region stages its National Preliminaries (Conventional) at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Friday 22 January 2010, from 8:00 pm.

 

Nineteen (19) bands comprising Small and Medium Conventional Steel Orchestras will face the adjudication panel in an event that is being billed “Friday Nite Pan Sizzle”. Admission is $60.

 

In the Small Band category (no more than 50 players in the preliminary stage but with 60 players in the semi-final and final stages), fourteen (14) bands  will perform calypsoes ranging from Maestro’s (Cecil Hume) “Fiery” to Mark Loquan/Ken Professor Philmore’s “Surrender” and “Smooth Sailing” by Winston Scarborough aka De Original Defosto Himself.

 

Five (5) Medium Bands (more than seventy (70) players in the preliminary round but with ninety (90) players maximum in the semi-final and final rounds) will also compete on the said night.
