Steelband Panorama Judges Seminar in the works
Trinidad & Tobago - Pan Trinbago will be hosting a Judges’ Seminar on Saturday May 8 2010 at the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs Learning Resource Centre, La Fantaisie, St. Ann’s, Trinidad, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

This exercise is being conducted in an attempt to improve the adjudication aspect of Steelband music Panorama competitions. Approximately 200 invitations have been issued.
Steelband representatives, Adjudicators and Arrangers are the target audiences. Dr. Pat Bishop, Mrs. Merle Albino-de Coteau and Mr. Orville Wright will present papers and hold discussions on the Panorama Judging Criteria.
Topics that will be addressed include:-
- Criteria for awarding points for bands’ performances at National Panorama Steelband competition, and the development of strategies for improvement
- Effect of crowd responses on some judges, and should judges be swayed by crowd response
- Definition of points awarded between certain numbers for each stage of the competition. The bench mark – should it be implemented?
Papers presented by the panel will be evaluated for possible implementation at the 2011 Panorama competition in Trinidad & Tobago.
It should be noted only judges who attend this forum will be short-listed to adjudicate Panorama Competitions.
