Welcome to the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago

TUCO

TUCO - Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation, was formed on 19th July, 1993 - Labour Day- out of the merging of the Trinbago Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) and the Calypso Association (CATT).

It is the officially recognized bargaining body for calypsonians, receiving Government’s disbursements to support calypso, executing such programmes as Calypso History Month, and administering a range of competitions and tents during Carnival and throughout the year.

A major step in TUCO’s new trust has been the formation of a Business Unit at Jerningham Avenue, Port of Spain, one of the initiatives resulting from consultancy on institutional strengthening and strategic development, fully supported by the Ministry of Culture and Gender Affairs, and undertaken by Aubrey Armstrong Management Associates.

This move recognizes the importance of such issues as copyright protection, piracy, the impact if trading blocs, including the Caricom Single Market and Economy, and expanding the market place for music, from new land markets to the Internet, soundtracks to DVDs.
