Welcome to the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago

NCC remembers colleague, Owen Serrette

Port of Spain, Trinidad: Monday, March 8, 2022: The National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCC) joins with the nation in remembering the life of steelpan stalwart, Owen Serrette, who passed away on March 6.

A former Ebonites, Harmonites, and Pan Knights member, Owen’s career and legacy in steelpan are well documented, having most notably served as Pan Trinbago’s President from 1988 to 1996. During his time in the Steelpan community, Owen was the Manager of Solo Pan Knights when they received their invitation to perform in Nigeria in 2005. He would later receive an invitation from the British Association of Steel Bands to receive the first International Outstanding Achievement Award.

From 2003 to 2018, Owen was also a member of our NCC family, where, leading by example, he put his administrative talents and people skills to the test as an Operations Coordinator, Properties and Infrastructure Manager, then as a Human Resources Manager. He was also a former NCC Commissioner of the Board during our earliest years.

He was a true emissary of Trinbago culture, and his time and sacrifices have gone a long way in shaping much of who the NCC is today.

He will truly be missed.

The NCC offers sincerest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones, in addition to his extended family at Pan Trinbago for their loss.
